How to develop trade in China so as to build an endogenous mechanism that is conducive to export upgrading and sustainable growth remains to be clarified. From the perspectives of the origin and essential role of trade, the domestic demand-driven export model can not only exploit a country's specific advantage to build an endogenous mechanism of export upgrading, but also bring into full play the role of export as the engine of growth through strong linkage between export sector and other domestic sectors. Therefore, large countries are more inclined to adopt demand-driven export model than small ones even they are at the same development stage. But China does not follow the experience of large countries. The reason behind this lies in the market environment which fails to effectively match the domestic demand, local supply and export products Thereby, rebuilding the demand-driven export model through providing a necessary market environment is China's advantageous channel to break through the dilemma in the transition of trade development.
