Some micro surveys at home and abroad show that Chinese residents have strong redistribution preferences. To explore the phenomenon, this paper constructs a mechanism framework to analyze the influence of perception of income fairness and prospect of mobility on redistribution preferences from the perspective of individual subjective perception, based on redistribution preference determinants, inequality trap theory and goal pursuit theory. Then, with CGSS 2013, we apply logit regression and improved mediation effect test to examine the influence mechanism empirically. We find that: the decline of perception of income fairness can not only enhance the redistribution preference directly, but also increase the redistribution preference by reducing the prospect of mobility. Therefore, the existence of this dual functions constitute the main inducement for the strong preference of redistribution among Chinese residents. The above conclusions are of great significance to the construction of an efficient and fair income distribution system in the new era.
